Let brotherly love continue.  Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.

 

biped....."It's winter in the Ozarks and it can be brutal.  So right after I got Momcat and her two kids fixed and moved into the house, another Momcat showed up with her boyfriend.  I wondered what I was going to tell Mom before she walked out the door and stumbled over them and I came up with the bible verse about strangers being angels.  So meet our newest Angels even though the black one (Jughead) may not truly be one.

biped....."I think that there might of been a wedding this weekend because Jughead and siamese cat are now sharing the bed.  Before now it was one or the other, never both cats at the same time.  I'm sure it has nothing to do with the snow thats out in the yard.

 

biped....."The kitties are kept nice and toasty warm with a heat lamp that was made to keep baby chicks warm.

biped......"Just maybe because her and the kids have gone from this..."

biped......"The mail lady brought our secret paw presents today, but there's a slight problem....

Smudge....."It's mine.....All mine."

Cyber Fever!

Ollie....."Wow, do you remember when it looked like that.

 

Smudge....."I don't think it ever looked like that.  It's always looked like its been run through a shredder.

 

Ollie....."It looked like that when we were young, a long time before you came along.

 

Smudge....."Well it looks like this now."

Ollie...."I don't know what's worse.  The fact that its deaded, or the fact that any minute she'll come in here with a roll or duck tape to "fix" it."

Smudge......"For sure.  And then there'll be that lecture about apprechiating the things that we have.

Ollie....."Yeah, Yeah..... Be happy.  Think about the kitties in the woods that don't have anything."

Smudge....."Well we'll be happy to donate this one to the poor little darlings just as soon as our new one gets here.

Ollie....."Hey push the button again and we can buy one for our secret pal."

Ollie ......"I heard an extra click."

Smudge....."Yeah, I got one for the cats in the woods."

Ollie......."You mean the cats who used to be in the woods who are now the bedroom cats?

Smudge ........"Yeah those cats."

ps.....This is the most pathetic looking cattree ever made.  My brother gave it to the cats about five years ago and the they absolutely loved it.  We have a six foot tall one that got played with once and then ignored.  The  cats choose this one.  If you (the cat) get back about ten feet and runs like mad, it and cat starts sliding across the room from the impact.  Land on the top and grab the little red ball and it starts twirling in a circle like some kind of demented carnival ride.  Twirl enough and the scratching post and/or top falls off and you get to watch your human cuss as they have to reassemble it. Better yet,  let the 20+ pound cat sit on the top and the whole thing topples over and  it becomes a night hazard sure to trip up your human on his way to the bathroom  at 3 am.

 Gus the cat discovers the true meaning of  Thanksgiving.  Good food, Good Friends and a Good Nap. (not necessarily in that order)

Anniecat......   "Uh, you know that the biped has spent a small fortune on fancy cat beds for you two...."

 

 

 

 

Anniecat....."You know, I can really commiserate with Daisy.  Brother's just don't have any common sense." 

 

 

Smudge....."Did you hear something?"

 

Heesh....."I think it was the squeaky front door.

 

 

Kibble Time

Lgk....."Wow, look at this human kibble."

 

Gus....."Wow that's really huge!"

Momcat...."Does it taste good?"

 

Lgk......"Not really.  It could use a little salmon juice."

 

Gus....."Hey, here comes the biped.  Maybe she's bringing the salmon juice."

 

 

 

Lgk...."No, its a cup of that hot steamy stuff."

 

Gus...."Hey, look!  She's dipping her kibble in the hot stuff."

 

Momcat....."Well that's insulting.  She sure is acting uppitty.  Everyone knows there isn't germs in kitty slobber."

Biped......"Hey Mom,  come look at Heesh!"

Mom......."Uh, whaaaa?"

Biped....."Isn't he cute?!  He's the first one to use it."

Mom....."Ooooh my."

Ollie....."Oh my is right.  We're going to be kicked right outta da Ozarks."

The Over the Hill Gang...

biped....."Only people over 42ish years old will know what I'm living with.  Certainly people in their 60's will really relate.  I truly feel that I cursed myself when 30 years ago when I told my 80ish neighbor that she just needed to go to a different eye doctor and she'd be able to get decent glasses.  The reason I'm blabbering about failing eyesight and crappy eye glass makers is that Mom and I were sitting on the front porch the other night.  And Mom said,

MOm....."Look at that clump of grass walking across the driveway."

biped...."Mom, grass doesn't walk.  In our yard it bolts but it never  has been known to walk."


biped....."I had to sit there a few minutes before I saw what she was seeing.  There was about a square foot chunk of grass moving slowly across the yard."

biped....."I had to run inside and get the camera to take a picture of Mom's walking grass.

 

biped....."Look at the size of those claws.  I bet it could really do some damage if you tried to pick it.

LGK....."Too bad they weren't this big out in the woods.  We wouldn't of nearly starved to death."

 

 

Gus....."Hey Dadcat!  Ain't cha sorry now dat you abandoned us?"

 

 

 

 

ps....biped....Mom and kitties have free range of the house.  They've met Heesh, Smudge (loves them), Ollie and all has gone well.  Actually the only one they haven't reacted with is Annie who is avoiding them like the plague.  Well that is till Friday night when the temperature got down into the 40's and she gave up and joined me in bed.

Gus...."Oh hi...I guess you're wondering what I'm doing."


visitor....."I just wanted to drop by to see if you've been let out of the big basket yet.  But I see you're still there."

Gus...."Well yes we are.  Momcat is still feeling a bit tired, but LGK has perked up.  Speaking of perky, the biped dropped off a couple mice but they need a little perking up.

visitor....."How's that perk'ng up going?

Gus......"Not so good.  Water hasn't revived it.  Guess I'll try a computer screen next.  If its like the biped it should spring back to life.

visitor....."If its like the biped, you'll need a glass of Diet Coke too."

Now What?

 

biped...."Momma cat came home from the vet today. I decided to see how she'd do in the "play pen" with the kids. I expected some discourse but it wasn't going to happen. Mom retreated into the old battered carrier and started making that cute chirping sound and the kids joined her. So much for the rule about not putting multiple cats in a carrier.

 

 

 

biped...."Here's a picture of "LGK".  I can't believe that in two days nobody has complained about being in the pen.  The rest of the cat kids have quit checking out the newbies, that is except for Joplin who is determined to play poke a kitty with Gus."

biped....."If you notice, there's quite a difference in size between Gus and the girls.  He's already two inches taller than mom so I doubt that Joplin is going to be playing poke a kitty for much longer.  Oh and Grandma, the cat hater, has already taught the kitties a trick.  They can untie shoe laces.

Ollie....."Have you seen Joplin?"

Smudge......"He's really pissed about something.

 

Biped....."Joplin, I've been a little lax here.  I should of explained about the birds and the bees a long time ago."

Joplin....."You got me a bird?"

Biped....."Not exactly.  When biped's don't get their kitties fixed there is a population explosion."

 

 

Joplin....."Birds and bees?  You got suckered again didn't you."

biped......"Yeah, well actually Grandma did.  She's the one that sat there playing with them."

 

 

 Joplin...."Them?  How many cats is "them?"

Grandma...."too many."

 

Here Kitty, Kitty!

 

Gramma......."Annie and that grey kitten have sure made a mess out of the window."

biped......"Huh?

Gramma....."The grey kitty sits in its bed and plays paddy cake with Annie."

biped......"The grey kitty hasn't been using the bed lately.  She's sleeping on the old pillow."

Gramma....."Silly biped, the kitty is staring at us thru the window."

biped......"Annie's been playing patty cake with that kitty?"

Gramma......"Duh, that's what I just said!  You know that kitty really needs a name."

biped....."I think I'll do that,  right after we get you that catarack surgery.  I wonder if  we can get a 2 for 1 sale.  If Annie thinks thats a kitten then she needs surgery too."

Another mouth...

biped...."You can't sneak much past grandma,  so when she said that the new black cat walked right up to her and let her pet it, I reminded her that we didn't have a wild black cat,  that it was the grey kitten.

biped...."then she remarked at how fast the little dishes of food were disappearing, I thought maybe there was also a black kitten.

biped...."Then tonight I found the newly filled dish empty and on its side and all the food gone so I got to wondering.  I had my flash light with me so I checked the secondary food dishes and there it was."

biped...."The worlds uggliest cat?"

biped...."Oh its a very dark oppossum and not a black cat which now has me wondering.  Is there also a tame black cat or did grandma pet an oppossum.?"

Ollie......"There's an old saying..."

Ollie...."That what goes up....."

biped....."Gassp..."

biped....."Eeeeee!.

Gus......Woaaah!

Ollie....."Must come down...."

Gus......"Ummmpff..."

And the Drought continues...

Biped....."We almost got rain this week.  It got within one mile of our house and then it just quit.  The lawn is completly gone except for in the driveway, right in front of the door.  So thus the wildlife has moved right up to the house.

biped....."As far as I can tell, we have four full grown rabbits.  I haven't seen any babies.
