And the Drought continues...

Biped....."We almost got rain this week.  It got within one mile of our house and then it just quit.  The lawn is completly gone except for in the driveway, right in front of the door.  So thus the wildlife has moved right up to the house.

biped....."As far as I can tell, we have four full grown rabbits.  I haven't seen any babies.

Maybe the babies can't survive in this type of weather. :-(

I think the stray cats may have ate the babies. But you're right about the heat too. I suspect that we may get another litter of rabbits before fall.

You are probably right about the cats and baby bunnies!

I had a friend once that raised Angora bunnies. When it got hot she put huge chunks of ice in their cages with burlap sacks over it. The bunnies just loved to sit on top of them. I wonder if I put a pile of ice out in the yard if the wild bunnies would enjoy it. Most likely they'd just tweet each other about the idiot biped.

I put the sprinkler out for the birds. Before I knew it, I had over a dozen sitting under the water--drinking, taking baths, just cooling off...

As long as it does not rain, I'll be trying to help the wildlife.

I have an opossum who is coming to my pond to drink and to eat whatever it can--fish, snails, water hyacinths. He's a pain, but there is a wee part of me that gets that he is hungry too. Ugh.
